along the silk road, china:

Below are some more photos from our travels along the Silk Road in China. Once we arrived in Xinjiang province, it felt much more like I imagined the Silk Road to be. It is also home to the Uighur people, who are a minority group in China, and who are Turkic descendants (like the Kyrgyz, Kazakhs and Uzbeks). So it was really interesting to see the change in people, language and culture as it felt far more Central Asian, than Chinese.  However, there are many Chinese settlers in Xinjiang, so there were still many Chinese elements - a really interesting mix.
