venice, italy - part three:

All good things must come to an end, and with that said, this is the last post from our time in Europe last year.

Like I mentioned earlier, Venice is very busy, however we did manage to get off the beaten track and lose the crowds, finding our own little spots of Venetian gold. One area we really liked - and stayed in - was the Cannaregio district. This area used to be the old Jewish ghetto of Venice and is really interesting to wander around as it does differ slightly to the main hubs of the city. It feels a bit more village-y (and maybe more authentic), especially once you get off the main high street area. It is also not far from the central areas and points of interest, so we were really happy with it being our base for our stay.

Another highlight of our time in Venice was visiting the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Located in her palazzo on the Grand Canal, Peggy Guggenheim's personal collection is both inspiring and impressive. That and the location made for a really memorable experience. I definitely recommend visiting when in Venice.

And there we have it, our Europe 2015 trip done! Next, I'll be sharing snaps from our time in New Zealand over the Christmas/New Year break.
