Our last stop was the town of Osh, near the Uzbek border in southern Kyrgyzstan. Osh is a famous silk road town, and is even said to be older than Rome. It was also in the news quite a bit last year due to major rioting which de-stabilised the area quite significantly due to ethnic tensions. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by its peaceful nature - there were no signs of what had occurred last year at all.
Our stay was brief, but we made the most of it, walking around making sure we visited the famous bazaar. There weren't many signs of it silk road past, but it definitely had its character and charm which we really enjoyed.
Next: our Kyrgyzstan wrap up, and then on to our last country - Uzbekistan.
