langtang, nepal - part 2:

After the weather had closed in the afternoon prior, we woke up early to blue skies, clear views and a fresh dusting of snow. Today we were headed for Kyanjin Gompa, the final stop of our Langtang trek before making our way back down to Syabrubesi. We were both super excited to get walking and see all the incredible mountains upon our ascent, being an easy and beautiful three hour walk.

Once we reached Kyanjin Gompa we spent the afternoon exploring, walking up to a glacial lake and taking in the views of Langtang Lirung above and Kyanjin Gompa below. These were the mountains we had come to see, and it was now that it really felt like the Himalayas. We were both so blown away, and the photos below really don't give the scale and enormity of this landscape any justice. It really is something you have to experience in person.

We took it easy that day, as we had a very early start the next morning for our climb up Tsergo Ri (which you can see in some of the photos below) and we needed time to acclimatise to the altitude. But that was fine by us as we were more than happy to take in the epic views around us.
