west coast, new zealand:

After travelling through Mount Aspiring National Park, and having originally started our trip on the east coast, we finally made it to the west coast of New Zealand.
The west coast is known for its ruggedness, with wild weather and seas. I hadn't been in the area since I was a teenager, so I was super eager to return, due to it being a highlight from my very first trip to NZ back in the day.
When we arrived it was grey, windy and cold with massive swell pounding the shore - what makes the west coast so beautiful. We explored a couple of beaches before having to head back to Wanaka to beat the closure of the pass for the evening.
Oh New Zealand, so incredibly beautiful!

next: my little guide to Dunedin, one of New Zealand's most underrated cities.

  3. Gorgeous photos. I wouldn't have even known it was New Zealand because I always associate bright coloured photographs with the country.. When I road-tripped there a few years ago I never saw a pebble beach either! Just goes to show there are always more places to be explored.
